Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF) is a 4-H leadership program for high school youth, grades 9-12, from across the country. Every summer nearly 1500 young people stay at the National 4-H Conference Center, near Washington, DC, to participate in this week-long program. This year, Greene County 4-H member Lucas Fisher travelled with a group of Iowa 4-H youth from across the state for this experience.
Participants learn the importance of civic and social responsibility as they relate to the development of better citizens and leaders. The week consists of participatory workshops, speakers, committee work, field trips and social events. They visited the Flight 93 Memorial and Gettysburg battlefield, Mount Vernon, Arlington National Cemetery, Capitol Hill, Smithsonian and Holocaust Museums, and many national monuments.
